About Us
About Us

Theatre West Summer Repertory was formed in 1990 as a Not-For-Profit organization consisiting of summer theatre productions and Theatre Opportunity For Youth (TOFY).  It operates as a combination Professional/Collegiate/Community Company.

TWSR is housed at Western Nebraska Community College (1601 East 27th Street) and is directed by an Executive Director and Board, as well as a Community Advisory Board.  It is generously supported by  WNCC President, Dr. Eileen Ely and WNCC.  Our program is also supported by the Nebraska Arts Council, Quivey-Bay State Foundation, Oregon Trail Community Foundation, US Bank, Regional West Medical Center,  KN for Kids, Target,  Juliet Hanson Foundation, Travis and Kathy Hiner Foundation, Martin Family Charitable Trust,  and interested business and individual patrons

Theatre West utilizes Equity actors, skilled collegiate and early professional personnel for its management and technical needs each summer.  Auditions and interviews are held at state and area colleges to fill 20- 25 positions.  On-line applications are accepted for Company Members. Equity, professional and experienced collegiate actors and technicians are hired for our productions.  Housing is furnished by WNCC.  The residence halls, workshop, and theatre are air-conditioned. Because of the unique artistic Company mixture, community actors are able to learn  alongside professional actors and practice their talents under the guidance of professional directors. TWSR is a teaching organization providing hands-on experience for young theatre students.

Each summer, Theatre West operates during a 10-week season.  The Company presents three separate productions with eight performances of each production.  The season contains both musicals and dramas. All members of the Company take part in the preparations of our productions as well as playing roles in the shows.  Theatre West provides opportunity for experience, training, and performance. Our productions have given area singers, actors, and musicians the opportunity to be a part of our productions.  This is truly a labor of love by our community's friends and neighbors given to the Theatre West audiences.
